C-Section Scar

C-Section Scar Adhesions

C-section scars and c-section scar adhesions can be hugely problematic…read on to find out more…

C-section scars are my favourite scars to treat. The effect of a c-section scar on the body can be hugely impactful and yet is one of the most overlooked and under treated areas when it comes to pain and discomfort years after a c-section!

The location of a caesarean scar means it can cause problems throughout the whole body due to the vast amount of bony structures and internal organs that scar tissue adhesions can stick to.

It is thought that around 93% of c-section scars develop adhesions and it’s often years later that issues as a result of c-section scar tissue adhesions develop, leaving woman confused about why this pain and discomfort has started…it couldn’t possibly be related to their scar as their c-section was 5 years ago…right?!

WRONG!

The majority of my c-section clients come to see me approximately 2-5 years following their c-section birth due to issues such as lower back pain, heavy and painful periods, persistent back ache, difficulty conceiving, jaw pain, IBS like symptoms and pain with intercourse to name a few.

These are all common symptoms that arise as a result of scar tissue and scar tissue adhesions. The majority of times my clients are told that nothing can be done, that this is their ‘new normal’ and something they have to just live with, other times they are told invasive treatments such as injections or even scar removal surgery may help…which ultimately means the same issue is likely to occur again further down the line… but there is a better way!

Scar therapy!

As a scar therapist I am trained in gentle, hands on scar therapy massage and release techniques meaning I can tailor your treatment to be suitable for your scar, symptoms and needs.

The best time to start your c-section scar therapy is between 8 -16 weeks post birth when there are no longer scabs present, no infection and your wound is completely healed. However, if your scar is more mature, change and relief is still achievable. I have worked on scars 35 year plus with good results. It just requires a little more patience and time!

Scar therapy is a gentle and non invasive way to address scar tissue, adhesions, pain and discomfort and to help reduce the liklihood of issues further down the line.

If you are experiencing any issues with your scar or it just feels generally tight and uncomfortable and you are always ‘aware’ of it then c-section scar therapy might be the missing piece to your c-section recovery!
